In the Fall of 2004, our sponsor, James Spence, started
a youth mentoring group at Dinwiddie High School to help teenage men stay out of trouble in school and in the
world. Another purpose of this organization is to promote brotherhood and gain the knowledge needed to becoming
successful. The name of this group is Men About Progress. In the Fall of 2005, with some new members, we all became part
of the blue and white family (Sigma Beta Club). Since then, we have done many community service projects and numerous functions with
our big brothas, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. and big sistas, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. Besides of our community service
activities, we have an award-winning step team. The Men About Progress/Sigma Beta Step Team has performed in front of numerous
audiences and has won competition after competition all over Virginia. As young adults and Sigma Betas, we'll continue to
do positive things in the community and do excellent in the classroom. After all, we are representing Phi Beta Sigma
and Zeta Phi Beta, and the blue and white family always succeeds!!!
